Musical Festival – June 16, 2011
New York City musical saw players can be seen on TV, subway platforms, or at the Greenspace on the lower east side. This Saturday starting at 2pm the 9th Annual NYC Musical Saw Festival will be taking place in Astoria. The festival features a concert as well as an art exhibit that revolve around saw playing – a talent that has been around for 300 years. It’s amazing to see one saw player but a chorus of 40 carpenter saws being played at once? Simply Bananas. Musical variations of classical, contemporary, pop, folk, show-tunes, and more can be heard by saw soloists & ensembles from all over the world. Unique New York will be shining brightly in Astoria come June 16th. Watch a video below from last year’s NYC Musical Saw Festival and read event details after the jump.
